Openex Metalfab continually invests in the latest technology and training for our highly skilled machinists. We specialize in large scale heavy industrial machining projects exceeding 50m long and 8m wide in a variety of materials, including alloy steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and more. We produce components using these materials in heavy industrial applications for base-plates, tube sheets, flanges, housings, heated platens, bolsters and more. Our technology allows us to hold tight tolerances on features including perpendicularity, flatness, and parallelism, per customer specifications.
Equipment Scale & Precision
We operate more than one hundred machining units, including CNC gantry boring-milling machines, turn-mill centers, deep-hole drilling machines, and multi-axis drilling systems. Among them, the German SCHIESS dual-gantry CNC boring-milling center enables five-side machining in a single setup. With its 7-axis, 5-linkage worktable and a maximum machining length of 50 meters, it achieves micron-level precision, meeting the stringent requirements of nuclear power, aerospace, and other high-precision industries.

Large Structural Component Machining
- Vertical lathes support a maximum turning diameter of 22 meters and a height of 6.5 meters, with a load capacity of up to 650 tons.
- Gantry boring-milling machines offer a maximum machining width of 8 meters and a height of 7 meters, suitable for heavy-duty equipment, pressure vessels, and other large structures.
- The Italian IMS deep-hole drilling machine supports drilling depths up to 1.2 meters, with hole diameters ranging from 12-55 mm, capable of processing tube sheets with a thickness of up to 1200 mm.
- The Korean DAEYANG four-axis multi-hole drilling center provides three-coordinate linkage, completing multiple processes in one setup—achieving 2-3 times the efficiency of conventional machining.
Material Processing Capabilities
We handle a wide range of materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, titanium alloys, zirconium materials, and nickel-based alloys. We have extensive experience with titanium tube sheets and special alloy structural components. Representative achievements include providing magnetic yoke steel machining for the Three Gorges Hydropower Project and manufacturing critical components for offshore wind installation vessels.
Process Coverage & Services
Our services span turning, milling, boring, drilling, tapping, and scraping-milling, enabling the machining of complex structures such as inclined surfaces, curved surfaces, and internal cavities. A constant-temperature workshop (8,000 m², temperature-controlled year-round) ensures stable dimensional accuracy and supports precision inspection requirements.

Openex possesses world-leading milling and boring capabilities, supported by some of the most advanced equipment available globally. Among them is the German HEISS CNC double-gantry milling and boring machining center—one of only two units in the world, valued at over 100 million RMB each. The machine features a massive 8000 * 40000 mm worktable, supports a maximum machining length of 50 meters, and offers seven-axis, five-linkage machining. With the ability to complete five-sided machining in a single setup and achieve micrometer-level accuracy, it is ideal for high-precision machining of large box-type components used in nuclear power, gas turbines, aerospace, and other high-end industries.

- Large-Scale Workpiece Capability: Capable of machining components with a maximum diameter of 22 meters, height of 6.5 meters, and weight up to 650 tons—such as tunnel boring machine shields and large construction machinery structures.

Our facility is equipped with globally leading turning-milling composite machining centers, including heavy-duty lathes from the Wuzhong brand. These machines offer a maximum machining diameter of 12.5 meters, a height of up to 6,000 mm, and can handle workpieces weighing up to 400 tons.
Powered by the Siemens 840dsl CNC system and featuring a dual-turret structure, these machines support constant-speed cutting, automatic indexing, and hydraulic clamping, ensuring high-precision machining of large rotary components.
In addition, our German HESS CNC double-gantry boring & milling center enables five-face machining in a single setup. With a 7-axis, 5-linkage worktable and a maximum machining length of 50 meters, it is ideal for complex components used in nuclear power, gas turbines, and aerospace.

Our turning operations achieve micron-level precision, with positioning accuracy reaching ±0.005 mm on certain high-end machines. State-of-the-Art Equipment
We have introduced multiple internationally advanced deep hole drilling machines, including the Italian Inse deep hole drill, the Korean Dayang four-axis multi-hole drilling machine, and the Korean Shinil deep hole drill. These machines deliver high precision and high efficiency. For example:

At Present, we have three( one ZEISS MMZ G large bridge CMM, one ZEISS ACCURA II bridge CMM, and one laser tracker Leica AT901) different machines used for coordinate measuring and each machine is handled by fully qualified and skilled members of our team.
